Mason James Daurie- born 6/11/2012

I went to work Monday morning after a great weekend of trying to get labor started naturally: walking, a couple of doses of castor oil and a wonderful pedicure! As you can imagine, I was a bit frustrated when nothing happened and I had to go to work. Jesse got off early that day and on his way home treated me to lunch at Scuttlebutt where we decided to have jalapeno coins as an appetizer hoping that the spicy food would help get things started. EWH. First off, I dislike spicy foods altogether and even worse jalapenos. Even dousing them in ranch didn't help much. I was on my way home at 5:15pm and text Jessica to confirm our lunch date the following day. As of my appointment the week before I was 2 1/2 centimeters dilated, 75% effaced. I got home, made lunches for the next day and then started dinner when I began to feel very uncomfortable. I laid down on the couch to watch some of the hockey game when Jesse asked if I was okay? I said no and that is when he got his stop watch out and began timing my VERY uncomfortable contractions. It was 6:45pm when they started. I tried walking around to see if it would help when Jesse told me we were going to the hospital.

At first I told him "are you kidding me?" These could go on for HOURS, we do not have to leave right now. But, I was so glad we did because my contractions were 1 1/2 minutes a part the ENTIRE way to the hospital which is a 45 minute drive from our house. Jesse called everyone including the hospital and poor Kylie was in the back seat with her hands over her ears saying "I don't want to hear anything." I wasn't yelling or saying awful things just yet, but I could NOT get comfortable for the life of me in the truck from squirming all around, rolling the window up and down, you get the picture. My water broke when we hit Everett and if it weren't for Jesse's confirmation that they were ready for me with my epidural, I am not sure if I would have made it. We arrived at 7:40pm, our families took Kylie and I kept saying to the nurse "I just want my epidural." She said "let's get you in there and see where you are at." Once my doctor peeked....she said "you have done the hardest part, you just have to push him out." "WHAT???" I said! I was SHOCKED that I was at that point with NO epidural. That was NOT my birth plan.

After a handful of VERY painful pushes and F bombs, here was what we had been waiting for: Mason James Daurie 8lbs, 6oz and 20 3/4 inches long at 8:01pm. Healthy and perfect in every way!

Our complete family of 4

Papa Jerry
My mom, Jesse's mom and our sister were also there, but I didn't get all those pictures to upload here. I will be posting several more as I go. It was a very special day meeting the sweetest, newest addition to our family. He is a gift in so many ways! We are so blessed!

Happy Mother's Day!

Me (9 months pregnant), Emma (my niece) mom, Kylie and Crystal (also showing her baby bump!)
This Mother's Day was one of the most special ones I have ever had. I spent it with the most special people to me! I woke up went for a slog, while Kylie rode her bike. Then, Jesse brought me coffee and beautiful flowers! My sister and mom came over and we went over to Anne's for Mother's Day brunch. It was so special to spend time and celebrate us becoming moms as well as the other special mom's in our lives. That evening Jesse took us and his family to Lombardi's for a special dinner in the Everett marina. It was a beautiful, warm sunny day and we enjoyed it all so much!

3rd Trimester- almost over!

I am SO eager to meet my little man. I feel him move ALL the time which gets me excited for an active baby! I have enjoyed being pregnant, but have also reached the point where I am ready to sleep comfortably and have full control of my own body back. It makes me a little sad that this is my last pregnancy, but more excited for feeling complete as a family of four!

Baby Shower (30 weeks!)

My sister threw me a beautiful shower in celebration of the arrival of baby Mason! I felt so lucky to have so many family and friends be able to attend! Thank you Crystal for ALL of your hard work in making it a very special shower for me! Also, thank you Amie on your hard work on the most adorable diaper cake ever! I loved it; especially unrolling all of the 100 diapers, haha!

Also, thanks to my best friends for being able to share this special day with me! I love you all so much!

Disneyland- 6 months pregnant!

Kylie's favorite ride: Screamin California!

Kylie's NOT so favorite ride (but went on it anyways) Tower of Terror!
Back in March of this year, I was 6 months pregnant and we learned Jesse had an amazing, once in a life time opportunity to be a part of putting in the new trolley that runs through California Adventure Park. Of course he gladly accepted this job and we scored a family vacation out of it! We found out last minute and it was a bit overwhelming, because it wasn't like I could just grab Summer clothes out of my closet for the 70 degree temps and I didn't have much for maternity wear in general. The week before we left, I went over to Jessica's for a visit and she handed me a FULL bag of washed, ready to wear maternity clothes for warmer weather days!! She even sent me pictures of outfit ideas (it's no secret that I am not a fashion diva!)! It was SO thoughtful and nice of her! It meant a lot to me.

Not only was this trip extra special since it was our first trip to Disneyland just the three of us, but also our first family road trip. Because Jesse offered to bring back material when the job ended, we were able to drive down! At first, I thought it wasn't going to be very fun driving 18 hours being pregnant and a 7 year old riding in back. But, it was actually REALLY fun and beautiful! We stopped in Oregon for a quick rest and then again in Bakersfield, CA where we stayed and visited with Jesse's cousin Dawn. It was really fun getting to know her and we appreciated her hospitality very much!

We spent 3 days between Disneyland and California Adventure. Jesse and Kylie went on EVERYTHING! I got to join them on the Pirates of the Caribbean, Story book and the Jelly fish ride....that was about it. I of course enjoyed being all together and took LOTS of pictures! Too many to post here!

It was pretty exciting to have experienced Disneyland twice in the same year, but this trip was extra special because out of the 4 times we had gone, it was our last vacation just the three of us!

Mason's room

Jesse and I thought it was pretty neat that the spare room happend to be pastel blue, then we found out we were having a boy- it was already painted perfectly! We just added furniture and some fun decor! Check it out!

Second Trimester!

Overall, I really enjoyed my second trimester of my pregnancy. Other than a few back and rib pains from my growing body, I still remained active by cycling or using the elliptical. I am a firm believer that it is always better to move than do nothing at all. Of course there are circumstances where that does not apply, but for the most part it has always worked for me in helping me feel my best.

This trimester my energy levels were great and I have enjoyed indulging in some sweets as well as lunches with friends! I am known for dedicating my lunch hour to the gym, but during my pregnancy I decided to mix it up and meet friends for lunch more than the gym. It was a great combo!
